At QuTech, we believe that systems engineering contributes to the development of robust and scalable quantum technology. We apply systems engineering by structurally working according to design methods such as the V-model or MBSE. This way of working allows us to bring the quantum technology to the next level. Projects we contribute to
In order to make quantum computing accessible for everyone we have developed Quantum Inspire; the first European quantum computer in the cloud and the world’s first computer with a processor that is using scalable spin qubits. Systems engineers successfully designed and build this quantum computer by defining the required functionalities of the system and its subsystemsand by properly validating these.
Towards a scalable and modular quantum computer using diamond qubits
QuTech and Fujitsu signed a collaboration agreement to combine efforts in a multi-year research project. The aim of the project is to develop the building blocks for a modular quantum computer based on diamond spin qubits.
The systems engineers tie together the full project in terms of requirements, constraints, and achievable overall goals. They interact with all the aspects of the project, to guide the overall direction of the efforts and provide coherence towards the final goal of the project. In particular, the system engineers are tasked to deliver the final blueprint based on the result and insights gained in this project.
